Journey from me to we

We’re All in This Together:  The Journey from “Me” to “We”

Program Description: Within most organizations, genuine and effective teamwork remains an elusive goal.  The catch-phrase, “Together Everyone Achieves More,” inspires, but affords minimal guidance on the goal itself or how it can be obtained.  Drawing upon Senge’s (1990) mastery of “5 basic disciplines,” Gibb’s (1991) “TORI process of discovering”, Lencioni’s (2002) leadership fable about “the five dysfunctions of a team,” and Covey’s (2006) The Speed of Trust, this presentation provides both helpful insights and practical strategies for effective team leadership.

Target Audience: Department managers, and/or employees who work together in teams.

Goals/Expected Outcomes:

  • Identify attributes of effective teamwork.
  • Describe 5 interrelated dysfunctions typically found among ineffective teams.
  • Explore the effects of trust and fear on a team’s function-ability.
  • Assess current levels of team effectiveness.
  • Choose appropriate strategies to build and manage successful teams.
