Inner Relationship Focusing – Level Two – Accompanying the Inner Relationship
Taught by Mary Elaine Kiener, RN, PhD, following the course design created by Ann Weiser Cornell, the co-creator of Inner Relationship Focusing.
Are you ready for Level Two?
- Perhaps you sense you could be getting more from your Focusing – if you only knew how to go deeper into the process.
- Or maybe you’re not quite sure whether you’re doing the process correctly and/or find yourself feeling “stuck” at times in the midst of Focusing
- Or you’re wanting to nurture a deeper commitment to your own Focusing practice.
In Level One, Encountering the Inner Relationship, you learned the basics of the Focusing process and Focusing partnership by practicing how to do Focusing.
In Level Two, Accompanying the Inner Relationship, you’ll sharpen both your Focusing and Listening skills while gaining a deeper understanding of how and why Focusing actually works – within a process so holistic, it’s as if problems know how to solve themselves.
You’ll learn more about the “edge” — the power of what’s unclear — and its relationship to transformation. You’ll also learn more about Self-in-Presence — the ability to be calm and compassionate with anything that arises–and how these two work synergistically together to create change.
As a Focusing companion, you’ll learn advanced listening techniques so that you can smoothly help your partner to stay in Presence at the “edge” of awareness. And you’ll learn a Leading-In process that helps facilitate the start of a Focusing session.
As a result, you’ll become a more nurturing companion to any Focusing process–whether a partner’s process or your own.
Pre-requisite: Focusing Level One with any Inner Relationship Focusing Teacher
How it works - Focusing Level Two includes FIVE 2.5 hour class sessions. Each class session will include plenty of time for discussion, demonstrations, exercises (with cue cards) and paired practice with a Focusing partner. (You’ll be assigned a different partner each class session, with whom you’ll also practice between class sessions.) Class size is limited to a maximum of 14 students and may include 1 or more teaching assistants.*
*One-to-one tutorial option: Available on a limited basis. In this case, class sessions will include FIVE 1.5 hour class sessions, each paired with a 1-hour Focusing partnership.
Phone classes: This course will be taught by phone.** When you register, you’ll be given the conference call number and a personalized access code. You don’t need any special equipment to participate – just a telephone (although a headset is helpful–and preferable to a speaker phone). And, if you wish to utilize it, there will be an 2-way online chat option available during each class session). Students are responsible for any long-distance costs to the US-based conference call line (Skype also generally works well within the conference call system used in this course). While each class session will be recorded, all students are expected to attend and participate during each live class session.
**On-site training options: Upon request, on-site training is also available, in one of the following schedule formats: FIVE 2.5 hour sessions or TWO 6-hour days.
Cost: $180/person [special group rates (for 3 or more) also available]
